BASEL AL MAQOUSI Painter and Photographer
Born in Gaza City in 1971, Plastic artist and free lance photographer Basel is a painter, photographer and video artist. He attended in 2000, 2001 and 2003 the summer Academy of Arts of Darat al Funun-Khalid Shoman Foundation in Jordan, run by Syrian-German artist Marwan Qassab-Bashi; and completed an arts course at the Gaza City YMCA in 1995. In 2003 he was awarded the Charles Asprey Award for Palestinian artists, was short listed for the A.M. Qattan Foundation’s Artist of the Year Award, and spent one month art residency in Bangalore – India. Magoussi participated in a number of local and international solo and group exhibitions, and teaches art at the Jabalya Rehabilitation Center for deaf and dome children. General observer for the games program of the UNRWA summer camps 2007. Winner of the bronze price for the best photo from the Union of Arab photographers – Europ, Germany 2008 After and before the war against Gaza, Basel did participate in several Arab and International exhibitions. He also won the Oscar of bianli Nile culture TV in Cairo on 2009 Because of the closure imposed over the Gaza Strip, Basel could not participate in 7 international art workshops in Europe and some Arab countries during the years 2008 – 2009. Maqousi is a founder of (Windows from Gaza For Contemporary Art).
Basel Al Maqousi è pittore, fotografo, videoartista e organizzatore di eventi, nonché socio fondatore del gruppo Windows From Gaza. Nato a Gaza City nel 1971, nelle estati tra il 2000 e il 2003 ha frequentato l’Academy of Arts of Darat al Funun-Khalid Shoman Foundation in Giordania diretta dall’artista siriano-tedesco Marwan Qassab Bashi, che tanto ha influito sulla formazione degli artisti palestinesi. Ha concluso un corso di studi in arte presso il Gaza City YMCA nel 1995. Nel 2003 ha ricevuto il premio Charles Asprey Award per gli artisti palestinesi, è stato selezionato per il concorso Artista dell’Anno presso la fondazione A.M. Qattan. Ha vinto diversi premi (terzo premio per la migliore foto presso l’Unione dei fotografi arabi, Germania 2008; Oscar of Bianli Nile culture TV, Il Cairo 2009) e ha passato un mese presso la residenza di artista in Bangalore, India. A causa del blocco sulla striscia di Gaza, tra il 2008 e il 2009 non ha potuto parecipare a 7 laboratori internazionali di arte in Europa e nei paesi arabi. Attraverso esposizioni personali e collettive, si è affermato come uno dei più importanti artisti palestinesi. Da dieci anni insegna arte ai ragazzi sordomuti nel Centro di Riabilitazione di Jabalia per disabili.
SHAREEF SARHAN Painter and Photographer
Born in Gaza in 1976, Shareef Sarhan works as an artist, professional photographer and free-lance designer. He is a founding member of the Windows from Gaza for Contemporary Art group and an active member of the Association of Palestinian Artists . Sarhan has a diploma in arts from the University of ICS in the United States. He had participated in several art training courses and workshops. He was involved in the activities of the September Dara Academy of Jordanian Arts from 2000 to 2003 under the supervision of the German from a Syrian origin artist; Marwan Kassab Bashi. Sarhan had introduced his works in many individual and group exhibitions in Gaza in the Arts and Crafts village, the Port Gallery, and exhibited some of his works in Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Amman, Britain, the United States, Sharjah and Cairo.
Nato a Gaza nel 1976 Shareef è il più giovane del gruppo. Si è diplomato in arte e comunicazione negli Stati Uniti presso la University of ICS. Membro fondatore del collettivo Windows from Gaza for Contemporary Art, ha preso parte alle attività delSeptember Dara Academy of Jordanian Arts dal 200 al 2003 sotto la supervisione dell’artista tedesco-siriano Marwan Kassab Bashi. Lavora come fotografo professionista. In campo artistico è pittore oltre che videoartista e autore di installazioni multimediali. Ha partecipato a numerose esposizioni personali e collettive a Ramallah, Betlemme, Gerusalemme, Amman, Inghilterra, Stati Uniti, Emirati Arabi Uniti e Il Cairo.
MAJED SHALA Painter and Photographer
Born in 1960 in Gaza, Shala graduated with a Master of Arts from Scranton University, USA in 2001. Shala’s work has been shown in a number of solo exhibitions, including Suwar min Gaza, in Beirut, Lebanon (2004) and Gaza Hanin il Makan, at the Arts and Crafts village in Gaza (2003). Between 2000 and 2001, he attended Jordan’s Daaret Al Funun academy. His international exhibitions have included in the Middle East ,USA, South Africa, Hungary, Brazil, Amman Jordan, and Qatar. Most recently he has participated in exhibitions in Italy and Norway and also with the United Nations.
Majed Shala è nato a Gaza nel 1960 e si è laureato negli Stati Uniti nel 2001 presso la Scranton University. Majed lavora come artista dal 1992. All’inizio della sua carriera i suoi dipinti appartenevano al regno del realismo, dal quale lentamente si è staccato in seguito, sperimentando nuove forme e mezzi di espressione quali la fotografia e la video arte. È socio fondatore del gruppo Windows from Gaza. Ha collaborato con la YMCA (Youth Men’s Christian Association) partecipando a numerosi campi estivi di arte per ragazzi. Al suo attivo ha numerose mostre personali nel Medio Oriente, Stati Uniti, Sud Africa, Brasile, Ungheria, Giordania, Quatar. Recentemente ha partecipato a esposizioni in Italia e Norvegia, oltre ad aver collaborato con le Nazioni Unite.
Samaha is part and promoter of the young artistic and cultural movement of Gaza City. She studied in Germany artistic and cultural event organization.

Working in FSF onlus since 10 years, he’s the responsible of the writing and oral stories lessons in FSF labs. As writer and resercher, with Giorgio Palmera he published different reportage books as “Al Jidar”, “Body and soul”, “spazi (des)aparecidos”, “Memoria”.
Gaza Strip Coordination
She has worked in the Gaza Strip since 2002 with emergency and development projects made so far with several local Institutional bodies and local associations: Realization of Milk Plant in Khan Younis 2003; Municipality of Beit Laya “project of recycling of solid waste” from 2003 to 2006; Support of kindergartens in north and south of Gaza Strip 2004; Training and exchanges with teachers from 2003 to 2005; Mission providing health care to the population during the “cast lead war 2009; Support to the farmers for the construction of “Home Gardens in the buffer zone from 2010 to 2013. She founded the Italian Center for Cultural Exchange ‘Vik’ of Gaza City in 2011, that was recognized by the italian consulate.
SERGIO LO CASCIO Videomaker (FSF onlus)

Grew up in Milan and born in Rome in 1976, where is now living, he graduated with honours in Film Language Theory and Analysis at the Department of Arts of the University of Milan. After a master in screenwriting, production and direction, since 2002 he cutted one’s teeth in video making helping young directors of the milanese and roman indipendent scene, managing cameras, mics and production papers. He’s now working as videomaker freelance. In 2007 he joined officially the NPO FotografiSenzaFrontiere realizing “spazi (des)aparecidos/(dis)appeared spaces”, his first documentary feature. He is the responsible of the FSF’s video activities.
